About us

Laponia Hotel was after a lot of back and forth built in 1957 by the municipality of Arvidsjaur. A magnificent project, which already then got a lot of attention because of its beautiful architecture. 28 rooms, restaurant and dance hall. Accordingly to sources this was a total waste of the tax paying citizen's money. 1975 was the request for rooms so big, that the hotel was extended and 87 new rooms were build.

The hotel was run by the municipality of Arvidsjaur until the fall of 2002, when the nordic hotel king Hilding Holmqvist bought the business and the facility. Hilding, who is known for his investments in the north of Sweden did not waste any time. In 2003 already, a new building complex was ready with 85 big rooms, a congress hall and a top modern night club.

Laponia Hotel has, except for its 200 rooms and 20 conference halls, also its own Sámi Land with sleepover huts, sauna and relax department, restaurant hut, dance barn and a timbered cottage for disco. The beautiful restaurant hut situated on the lakeside of Nyborgstjärn in the middle of Arvidsjaur is also property of Laponia Hotel, as well as two car test garages.

In 2007 the facility and business was bought by Kristoffer Lundström who then was 23 years old.
